The Salmon Project was a service learning project originated by John Stanford International School under the guidance of Andrea Leary, the School to Community Liaison. Fourth and 5th grade students spent their school year discovering whether Lake Union was a suitable environment for releasing the salmon they had been raising. The project culminated in February 2002 with a sharing videoconference between the collaborating school, Sunnyside Elementary in Eastern Washington, and JSIS.
