ETDC Mission

The ETDC's mission for 2002-03 is to support the educational technology goals of OSPI and the Ed Tech Support Centers by:

  • Assisting the ETSC Program in providing regional technical support and technology services that support school improvement
  • Assisting the ETSC Program in providing consistent statewide professional development in the integration of technology into the curriculum that meets regional needs and supports the implementation of school improvement plans
  • Providing leadership in the effective and visionary use of technology to improve teaching and learning

In support of this mission, the following activities are underway:

  • Adapting the PILOT (Prepare to Integrate Learning Opportunities with Technology) professional development tool for integrating its survey data into building school improvement plans and evaluating effectiveness of professional development.
  • Coordinating the development of a building based technology profile toolkit for schools to audit their current use of technology.
  • Incorporating shared statewide online tools to support school improvement.
  • Coordinating MarcoPolo resources to support infusion of technology into subject-specific professional development.
  • Maintaining an ETDC website that provides many arenas of and services for educators and student groups in support of educational reform initiatives and learning through the use of technology.
  • Collaborating with OSPI and the ETSC Program to support the creation of district and stateide technology plans based upon ESEA requirements.
  • Refining an online resources evaluation tool for district use.
  • Partnering with emerging statewide initiatives in digital education.
  • Collaborating with OSPI and the ETSC Program to develop an online database of benchmarks and aligned technology solutions.
