Technology Planning in Washington

The Ed Tech Support Centers and OSPI support school districts in their technnology planning process.

The process of developing technology plans in Washington State is significantly different from other states. All districts develop 3-year technology plans including building and district inititatives. The educational foundation of the technology plan is drawn from building-level school improvement plans. A specific template structure was developed in 2004 to streamline the planning process. Currently, districts complete their plan using the online tool (See below).

Buildings CAN complete their SIP plan online at OSPI. District Staff MUST complete the district templates online at OSPI.

The ETSC can meet with district administrators and building SIP members to help facilitate and inform this process. Many districts have taken advantage of this service. Contact your regional ETSC Director for assistance.

The Wax Museum

At Lewis and Clark Middle School in Yakima, WA several teachers met six years ago and decided that they would like to have a culminating project for 8th grade social studies classes. Thus the wax museum project was born. Eric Franz, a special education teacher and participant in the Peer Coaching program, has been the leader of this project since its inception.
