Google SketchUp Pro - FREE lab licenses for Washington K-12 schools

Posted on Friday, October 2, 2009

Google is offering free educational lab licenses for SketchUp Pro. The offer is open to all Washington state schools and districts that make use of the licensing program set up with OSPI.

Sketchup Pro is a popular 3D modeling software that K-12 teachers use to strengthen core curricula with realistic visualizations that scale and animate quickly and easily. Google recommends a second free download of Google Earth, which makes it possible to model real-world buildings and sites, then locate them geographically.

Contact your regional ETSC Director or Dennis Small (dennis.small@k12.wa.us) for licensing information.

The Wax Museum

At Lewis and Clark Middle School in Yakima, WA several teachers met six years ago and decided that they would like to have a culminating project for 8th grade social studies classes. Thus the wax museum project was born. Eric Franz, a special education teacher and participant in the Peer Coaching program, has been the leader of this project since its inception.
